BELOW YOU WILL FIND THE MINUTES FROM THE CENTRAL WYOMING TRAILS ALLIANCE MEETING OF THE BOARD MEMBERS AND PUBLIC GUESTS ON TUESDAY MARCH 14TH, 2017
  • Roll Call
    • Present: Mike, Tia, Bruce, Adam L, Clint, Erik, Ben, Tyler
  • Approve minutes, check
  • Financials: Approved
    • $500.00 donation. Thank Allan & Crouch on Web
  • Grooming single track demo
    • 10:00 AM April 1
  • MOU Approved with county
    • Build and groom, use equipment
  • Maps
    • 2 different maps, winter and summer both displayed at the same time
    • Edges: different logos of parties involved
    • Design: not overly complicated
  • Casper College updates.
    • Sent proposal in today
    • Board meeting April 20th to discuss approval
    • Goals:
      • Repair and improve existing trail,
      • Add trail and unique feature
        • Connectors to make loop
        • Flow trail (one way?)
          • Bermed turns, rolling terrain, bumps and jumps.
        • North 40 work this summer
        • Bridal Trail
          • Fix, repair, and advocate
        • Pump track
        • Consider Strider track by crossroads
        • Squaw Creek
          • May be able to develop
          • State trust may make it hard
          • People worried about mountain bikers taking lease from grazing.
          • We can buy a lease for $500 a year, on top of lease for grazing
        • Alcova Area
          • May 6 Adam L organizing event of gravel, road, and runner.
        • Perimeter trail
          • If we are going to peruse, we need to get proposal into the county

  • Approve Minutes from 11-1-16

  • Discuss Generation Casper and how CWTA might fit with Casper’s development plan
    • Single track through town for commuting etc.
    • Casper College/Mike Sedar park development
  • Discuss the Governor’s Outdoor Recreation Task Force and how it fits with Central WY. FYI, Angela Emery is on the Bike/Ped task force and Parkway Trust may be a good fit for projects. Get onboard with City and Parkway Trust for opening day for trails April 8th.
    • Casper has highest potential in the state for pros and cons of most areas in the state for potential outdoor tourism, starting to be recognized.

    • Casper mountain road trail CC to Outer Drive (Platte River) Construction in May?

  • Discuss MOU with County and some of the road blocks we are experiencing and try to get an understanding between user groups. State of winter grooming. That is, try to curb the whining over small details and move our efforts forward.

    • Casper Mountain Trails Center and McMurry Park – Natrona County Parks Dept/City of Casper
      • Clean it up (trail layout)
      • Perimeter trail around McMurry land
      • Trail to the restaurant
    • Alcova/Fremont – Hat 6 to Ponderosa – BLM
      • Lines on a map, get the county on board
    • Bridle Trail – NaCo Parks/Friends of the BT/Private and City/Rotary Club
      • Landowner could shut down access
      • Traditional Access needs to be re-instated
      • Donated land to the bridal trail?
    • Hogadon and Bridal Trail connection – City of Casper
      • City still working on it.
      • One owner between Hogadon and Squaw Creek, could be connected to create large loop
    • Squaw Creek – State of Wyoming
      • Development, lease or get state on board to develop
      • Could be a big loop after bridle to hogadon to squaw to park way
    • Duncan Ranch and Veterans Crew – State Trails
      • 4 miles of trail to be built this summer
      • Veterans program building and maintaining trail.
        • Looking for non-state projects, Mountain or Bridle Trail work
      • User funded activities/permits for non-motorized users
        • Find alternatives
        • Could be beneficial, needs to include all non-motorized users, not just mountain bikes.
      • Consider adding Board Members

BELOW YOU WILL FIND THE AGENDA FOR THE CENTRAL WYOMING TRAILS ALLIANCE MEETING OF THE BOARD MEMBERS AND PUBLIC GUESTS ON TUESDAY FEBRUARY 9TH, 2017 

Meeting will be held Thursday 2-9-17 at 6:00 p.m. at Adbay, 627 W. Yellowstone Hwy, Casper, WY 82601. Any member of the public with interest in the trail development of the Casper are is encouraged to join us and voice you opinions on any matters at hand.

  • Introduce Tammy and Brady Owens regarding the Bates Hole Management Plan
    • Public Comments on travel and transportation management issues (discussion)
      • Discussing motorized vs non
      • What to keep, what not to keep, what to limit
      • Easier access, our opinion
      • BLM resources bottom of page two, (ecfr.gov)
    • Varying terrain, good flow, direction of travel
    • Need a plan, work together
      • How to get there?
